Hatteras Island's Holiday Happenings!

Hatteras Island is buzzing with holiday spirit! Come join the residents of Hatteras and enjoy holiday festivities all month long.

Now Through December 31st
24th Annual Hatteras Island Food Drive
Through the rest of the year, Hatteras Realty will be collecting donations at both Avon and Waves office locations. Donations of unopened non-perishable food items, personal care products, house-hold cleaning products, and animal food/litter are accepted.

Help us restock the Hatteras Island Food Pantry by dropping off items to one of our office locations. Monetary donations are also accepted and appreciated. Checks can be made out to: United Methodist Men and mailed to Hatteras Island Food Pantry P.O. Box 1591 Buxton NC 27920.

December 3rd
Cookies with Santa
Hatteras United Methodist Church – 9a.m. – 11a.m.
Come indulge in some sweet treats while getting your photo taken with Santa. Pictures with Santa will be by Daniel Pullen Photography and homemade Christmas cookies will be available for all. Along with cookies, kids will be able to do a “make it and take it” Christmas craft and a 50/50 raffle. Donations will also be accepted at the door. All proceeds will go to benefit the Hatteras Preschool.

December 9th 
Cookies, Cocktails, & Cocoa for Charity
Pangea Tavern: 6p.m. – 8p.m.
Let's come together for a night of holiday spirit spent with members of the community and charity! Pangea will be serving up a hot cocoa bar, specialty holiday cocktails and homemade Christmas cookies. Elijah Thompson will be rocking some live Christmas tunes.

What to bring:
Bake you most creative & delicious Christmas cookies to share
Bring a gift donation for Toys for Tots
Wear your most festive Christmas outfit
Bring your neighbor, friends, and family to come together as a community during this holiday season!

December 10th 
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Winter Climb
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse: 9a.m.- Noon
In the spirit of the holidays, the lighthouse will be offering a FREE winter climb for all residents and visitors. Children must be 42” tall to climb the lighthouse and be escorted by a person at least 16 years old.

6th Annual Holiday at the Museum
Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum: Noon – 6p.m.
Enjoy a day-long annual holiday event at the Museum. Children and adults alike will marvel at the Winter Wonderland train display by master model builder Charlie Klein. Enjoy children’s holiday craft tables, letters to Santa (almost certainly to receive a reply) and a professional puppet show. Live entertainment is provided by local choral groups, individual performances by local musicians as well as professional musical entertainment throughout the day. Purchase fresh, hand crafted holiday décor such as beautiful wreaths. View multi-themed, fully decorated holiday trees, and shoppers will continue to receive an additional 5 % off purchases when they bring a donation for the food bank. This event is FREE and open to all residents and visitors.

25th Annual Christmas Parade
Hatteras Village Route 12: 2p.m.
Kick-off the holiday season at the 25th Annual Christmas Parade!
The very popular parade is an opportunity for the community to get together and kick off the holiday season on Hatteras Island. Residents and tourists are invited to park along Highway 12 between Teach's Lair Marina and The Hatterasman Drive-In to watch the parade pass by. Cheer on floats, fire trucks, bikes, horses, golf carts, emergency personal, and see a special visit from Santa! Make sure to arrive early to reserve the best spot along the route.

After the parade, join the Hatteras Village Civic Association at the Hatteras Community Building (next to the Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department) for hot cocoa and homemade cookies while awaiting the announcement of the parade winners.

Hatteras Village Christmas Dance
Hatteras Civic Center: 8p.m. – 11p.m.
Put on your Christmas best and come boogie at the annual Christmas dance featuring music by Machine Gun. Light refreshments and cocktail set-ups will be available. Folks are asked to provide their own spirits. Admission: $5/person. Must be 21+.

December 17th 
Ugly Sweater Party
Pangea Tavern: 8p.m. – 10p.m.
It’s time to get in the holiday spirit with Pangea Tavern's third annual Ugly Sweater Party sponsored by Kill Devil Rum! Dress in your "ugliest" Christmas sweater and head on over to Pangea Tavern.
Ugly Sweater Contest Prizes given for winners!

December 31st 
New Year’s Festivities
Old Fart’s New Year’s Eve Party
Pangea Tavern: 7pm – 11pm
Find it hard to stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve? Join us for "Old Farts New Years" at Pangea Tavern where we will have crazy food and drink specials to clear out 2016. We will drop the ball at 10pm and offer a complimentary champagne toast for those of us who do not want to stay up super late!

New Year’s Eve Cocktail Party
Turner’s High Moon Bar: 8pm. - 2a.m.
Dress in your NYE best and join the crew at Turner's High Moon Bar for a night of celebrating the incoming New Year! More details to come!
