Bulletin #5 All Dare County Offices Opening on Schedule Tomorrow
All Dare County Offices, north and south of Oregon Inlet, will be opening tomorrow (Wednesday, October 31) at the regular time.
One-stop voting will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 31) as scheduled in Manteo, Kill Devil Hills and Buxton. For more information about one-stop voting, call the Dare County Board of Elections Office between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at (252)475-5630.
Update from the Town of Kitty Hawk –
All lanes of Highway 158 in Kitty Hawk at milepost 4 remain closed due to flooding. Traffic is currently being rerouted on a detour through neighborhoods west of Highway 158. Visitwww.townofkittyhawk.org to view a map of the detour. Motorists should expect delays and slow travel in this area.
All of NC Highway 12 and streets between Highway 12 and Highway 158 remain closed due to flood waters. The Kitty Hawk Police Department is advising all residents, visitors and property management companies that the areas east of US 158 toward the ocean are closed to everyone but emergency personnel. No one is allowed in this area until further notice, due to debris and downed power lines.
Pumping operations have begun east of Highway 158 and work will continue through the evening to set up additional pumps. As a result, a general swimming advisory has been issued for the last two days of the swimming season.
Town staff have started property damage assessments and have completed oceanfront and beach road frontage properties. As flood water continues to subside, they will continue with damage assessments.
Commercial trash collection is scheduled for Wednesday and regular residential collection will resume on Thursday.

Dare County Emergency Management has released photos of damage to NC Highway 12. All photos were taken between Oregon Inlet Bridge and Rodanthe, NC. Photos were taken Tuesday, October 30, 2012. NCDOT is at the scene and repairs are underway.
