Storm Recovery Update


RE-ENTRY GUIDELINES NOW IN EFFECT FOR HATTERAS ISLAND – 
Re-entry to Hatteras Island, from the NCDOT ferry dock at Stumpy Point on the Dare County Mainland, is available for the following – 

• Hatteras Island Residents with proper identification may re-enter any of the Villages with proper identification. Residents must present a driver’s license showing a local address for one of the Hatteras Island Villages. Residents are now able to travel to and from the Island by ferry without obtaining a special pass.

• Insurance Adjusters with identification may re-enter Hatteras Island.

• Critical Businesses (Non-Resident Essential Personnel) Priority Two with a light blue re-entry permit card may also re-enter. 


FERRY SCHEDULE – 

The NCDOT Ferry Division is offering 12 departures from each side to assist with the re-entry process for Hatteras Island. For ferry information, call 1-800-BY-FERRY:

Departing Stumpy Point at 12:30 a.m., 4 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.; and

Departing Rodanthe at 1 a.m., 3:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.


UPDATE FOR NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS
Dare County Emergency Management is closely monitoring the progress that continues to be made in the infrastructure of the island. The resumption of ferry service and availability of electrical power are encouraging signs that recovery is moving in the right direction. Assessments will be done on a daily basis so that re-entry for non-resident property owners can be announced as quickly as possible.

CURFEW FOR HATTERAS ISLAND HAS BEEN LIFTED
The Curfew, in effect from midnight to 5:00 a.m., for Hatteras Island has been lifted.

RELIEF UPDATES – 


RODANTHE EMERGENCY SHELTER
The Emergency Shelter at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building closed operations today. However, the Community Center will continue to be used as a feeding and distribution site. Anyone in need of housing should contact the Dare County Department of Social Services at 252-475-9320 or 252-475-5500 for assistance.


NORTH CAROLINA BAPTIST MEN
North Carolina Baptist Men are no longer serving meals at the Manteo Baptist Church.


STUMPY POINT MEALS
The Stumpy Point feeding location remains open.


INTERFAITH COMMUNITY OUTREACH (ICO)
Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO) is continuing to coordinate disaster relief services throughout Dare County for all those needing help.

DEBRIS REMOVAL
In unincorporated areas of Dare County, the first pass for debris removal began today in Stumpy Point and Wanchese. Efforts will continue this week with Skyco, Burnside, North End of Roanoke Island, and Manns Harbor.

For information about debris removal in individual Towns, check with the municipality.

The public is asked to please be patient while the debris removal effort is underway throughout Dare County. You will encounter trucks along the roadways making frequent stops to collect debris from the shoulder of the road. During this time your patience is appreciated and will facilitate the cleanup effort that is now underway.

To begin the process of applying for FEMA assistance, register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has been opened at The Dare County Center at 950 Marshall C Collins Drive, Manteo, NC 27954.
